The group is of mixed origin, since Isiago (No. 40) is described as like Abbo in drawing elements from the Elugu section and from Eastern Igbo. Abbo is counted among the settlements of the southern Nkanu plains, settled from the hill country to the east, where offshoots of the uplands form separate village groups claiming a mixed descent.
