The four village groups named for it are Akoliufu, Amankalu, Ugwueke and Ezeuku.
In the Item account of origin, the first settlement was made with the Alayi and two other groups, whose names differ between versions of the tradition; the quarrel that followed sent these settlers northwards into the plain, where they now live. Like the Isu, the Alayi keep their settlements scattered.
