The source also records a Northern Igbo claim that Okwelli belongs to Isu.

Its village groups are Uzoaba, Akabo and Inyishi, then Amaimo, Amakohia and Atta, then Avuvu, Ngugu and Ihuo, besides six smaller village groups, which together reach the 15 local communities.

The Otanchara group of that area is said to contain a community, Okwelli, claimed as part of Isu, cited as Southern Igbo, Isuama No. 4, the number given to Ikeduru, while another Otanchara community, Isiokpo, prefers to join the Nri-Awka group Nkalu. Forde & Jones record no origin tradition for Ikeduru itself.

Meek records that in 1931 a body of Isu calling themselves Ikeduru sought to break away from the Oratta and to be given a judiciary of their own — the case that prompted his argument that groupings of this kind could be built into federal native administrations. Afigbo lists Ikeduru among the communities making up the Isu-Ama, the Isu who had gone abroad, with Mbama, Mbieri, Osu, Ehime, Ugboma and Mbaise.
