Its towns are Nkalagu, Nkalaha, Ezillo, Umuhale, Obeagu, Iyono and Amezu.
It is counted the isolated and thinly peopled groups of the northern Nkanu plains, settled mainly out of the eastern uplands.
Afigbo records Nkalagu as one of the two important slave fairs, with Ibagwa Nkwo, that came under the domination of the Nike-Aro axis in the nineteenth century, and notes that a major trade route then ran from Idah by way of Ibagwa and Nkalagu to the salt centre at Uburu.
