Its towns are Eha-Alumona and Ofba, and it is counted among the communities of the northern section of the eastern uplands.
The political order of this northern region rested on a graded title system with village headship under an Eze, developed under strong Igala influence.
Afigbo reports that at Eha Alumona the cult of Ezogwele was said to have been brought from Nshi (Nri) by one Ezeokpaka, who became Eze of half the town and whose sons all took the title after his death. Meek, whom Afigbo cites, added that in towns whose principal cult came from Nri the man who introduced it commonly ended as the Eze.
Afigbo warns that the deities in these stories have no counterpart at Nri, and reads them as charters legitimising the priestly and chiefly claims of particular families.
