Its towns are Ujalli together with thirteen further small local communities.

Those communities are credited to Aro settlers from Arochuku in the Cross River area, and their towns are Ujalli, Ibom, Obinkita and Atani, villages of that origin. Aro from the Cross River region settled the lowlands between the two ridges over the previous fifty to a hundred years and now form the Ujalli group of Ndienyi, while the Ndi Enyi sub-area lies in the central lowland west of the eastern ridge, on low-lying and broken ground, taken up by Aro incomers in the recent past.

The group is also listed, as Western group 32, with the southern part of the eastern uplands, an area of many small and isolated groups having little contact outside and no title system.

Afigbo places Ujari, Ibom, Obinkita and Atani among the nineteen villages of the Aro clan and among the named descent groups into which those villages were arranged, and treats the claims attached to them — including the Ibibio origin asserted for Obinkita and Amanagwu to escape the stigma of slave descent — as products of colonial-era land and chieftaincy disputes rather than as history.
