Its towns are Nkpologu and Obimo, and three unnamed small local communities are mentioned. The group lies in the northern section of the eastern uplands.
The most northerly settlements of this region are autonomous units which, apart from certain north-eastern villages claiming descent from various Nsukka communities, hold no tradition of coming from elsewhere.
Meek records that at Nkpologu the Eze headed the community with the Onyishi second and the Asogwa third, each office being drawn from its own family and the Asogwa chosen by three diviners first sworn to divine honestly. He adds that a woman detected planting yams there forfeited the crop to the town's principal officials. Afigbo records that when Nsukka sent part of its annual sacrifice back towards Nri, it travelled by way of three officers: the headman of Ugbeke, the headman of Nkpologu, and the Eze of Obimo.
