The source says it remembers no migration tradition of its own.
Nine local communities are reported for it, while eighteen local communities besides Mbiokpong are counted.
Mbiokpong, the leading community, is given as an Ibibio word and as derived from Mbinyang. Among the communities making up the group are two Aro villages and one derived from Idima Abam, an Eastern Igbo group.
With Bende and Ibere, Obero is classed among the original Enyong Ibibio communities absorbed by Igbo incomers from the west. It is also named, with Olokoro and Isuorgu, among the local groups that remember no migration tradition of their own.
