Editorial use only Fijian ‘Cannibal Tom’. 80-year-old man on the Pacific island of Fiji, said to be the last practitioner of Fijian cannibalism. The Fijian islands were settled following long sea voyages, and cannibalism became part of the culture of the islands. The practice was phased out following the adoption of Christianity in the late 19th century. This image, dating from around 1905, is part of a stereoscope view published by US company Underwood and Underwood.

Rightscredit “Science Photo Library” read from the file's own embedded metadata (image_meta.credit in _wp_attachment_metadata), which the import did not carry over; the file's own embedded copyright field holds "LIBRARY OF CONGRESS/SCIENCE PHOTO LIBRARY" — a rights statement, not a licence, so no licence is recorded. Derived from the WordPress record, not established by a person: nobody has confirmed this.
