With Ukawe it is noted as a clan that broke away from Ezza, one of the section's five large groups.
It is linked with Ukawe, the two being clans recorded as having broken away from Ezza, the largest of the section's three large groups. It is entered as a village group while it is also treated as a clan.
With the other communities entered as village groups, Ugulangu is said to have a settlement pattern like that of village groups in the Eastern Plains, in contrast to the five large groups of the section, whose people live in small hamlets spread across the farmland away from the lineage home land. Beyond the break from Ezza, and Forde & Jones record no town, no subdivision and no founder for it.
Where it is: Ebonyi State, Onicha local government area. A gazetteer entry: "Ugulangu Map — Locality — Onicha, Ebonyi State, Nigeria".
