Trumpets made from a cucumber-shaped calabash, found in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria.
Described by G.T. Basden (Among the Ibos of Nigeria, 1921): “Buglers sounded calls on the akpelle, a calabash with both ends cut off and a blow-hole, used like a bugle.”
