Histories that mention Alayi

These are published records whose own words name Alayi. A mention is not a history of Alayi, which is why they are listed here rather than with the histories about it. Records already listed above are not repeated.

Read as: Alayi. Counted where the name is written with a capital, because a lower-case occurrence of a name that is also an ordinary word is the word.

The four village groups named for it are Akoliufu, Amankalu, Ugwueke and Ezeuku.

In the Item account of origin, the first settlement was made with the Alayi and two other groups, whose names differ between versions of the tradition; the quarrel that followed sent these settlers northwards into the plain, where they now live. Like the Isu, the Alayi keep their settlements scattered.

Corrections to a community record are reviewed before they are published, and a published record is never silently replaced. The review trail stays visible.
