Histories that mention Ishielu
These are published records whose own words name Ishielu. A mention is not a history of Ishielu, which is why they are listed here rather than with the histories about it.
Read as: Ishielu. Counted where the name is written with a capital, because a lower-case occurrence of a name that is also an ordinary word is the word.

It is counted the isolated and thinly peopled groups of the northern Nkanu plains, settled mainly out of the eastern uplands.
Afigbo records Nkalagu as one of the two important slave fairs, with Ibagwa Nkwo, that came under the domination of the Nike-Aro axis in the nineteenth century, and notes that a major trade route then ran from Idah by way of Ibagwa and Nkalagu to the salt centre at Uburu.
