Histories about Agbaja
The archive links no published history to Agbaja yet. Its neighbours’ histories are not shown here, because a link to another community is not a history of this one.

Histories that mention Agbaja
These are published records whose own words name Agbaja. A mention is not a history of Agbaja, which is why they are listed here rather than with the histories about it.
Read as: Agbaja, Nnewi. Counted where the name is written with a capital, because a lower-case occurrence of a name that is also an ordinary word is the word.

Its towns are Nnewi, Orifite and Ichi.
The Nnewi district was colonised from the western uplands by large village groups that had gained a reputation for warfare in the past. Agbaja is the first of the four groups, the neighbouring groups, assigned to that district.
Men from the village groups around Nri and Awka, extending to Nnewi and other villages of the district, went abroad mainly as doctors, craftsmen and market traders, and migration on a small scale went from the south of the Nnewi district to the Cameroons plantations.
